Mobile gaming has come a long way since the days of avoiding black squares on your Nokia’s version of Snake and working your thumb across Blackberry’s trackball to break all the bricks. Nothing since the Nintendo NES, has attracted so many people of all ages and backgrounds to video games, like mobile gaming has.  You all know this, we’ve all had that crazy aunt or random former high school classmate hit you up on Facebook to a get an extra life or two on Candy Crush. ( Related side note- you’ve never seen fear and anxiety in a grown man’s eyes until you’ve told him he just lost all his progress in Clash of Clans and has to start over)

Just like 2016, 2017 was a great year for mobile gaming and here are SwapCell’s top 3 games of the year.

Injustice 2

The sequel to the DC comic based hard-hitting fighter brings amazing graphics and gameplay right to the palm of your hand. A must for any fighting game enthusiast, Injustice 2 lets you pick from a deep catalog of DC’s rich comic history, including Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, and The Joker just to name a few. Select your 3 favorite characters and take on the DC Universe! A mobile game that looks and plays so well will leaving asking…  why did I need to buy that new Xbox again?

Sonic Forces: Speed Battle

Temple Run meets Mario Kart. This addictive runner game brings your favorite characters from the Sonic franchise to your phone and allows your battle other players from around the world. Collect coins to make Sonic go faster, power-ups are available during the race that can be used to boost your speed or take down other opponents,  avoid obstacles in your way as well as your opponent’s own power-ups as you strive to finish first!

Pinball Arcade

Go back to the glory days of arcades with Pinball Arcade. Essentially just an emulator full of classic tables that you will definitely recall if you spent any of your childhood in an arcade. But this blast from the past is requirement for any Pinball fans- getting one table free, and rotating tables that are free to play. With sharp graphics and all the lights and sounds you’d expect, you’ll lose yourself in the table and hopefully become a pinball wizard!

Personal recommendation- Twilight Zone Pinball. Buy it. It’s worth it. Trust me.
